Back of Projector Phone

Again, I ask-What’s the Point?
Well folks, it’s finally here! The LG Expo Projector Phone! But here’s the catch… It costs $199 with a two year contract and rebate from AT&T, and the Projector is not yet available. And when it is made available, you are going to have to shell out another $179 to get it. And there is no scheduled release date for it yet either. How is a company going to sell their “signature projector phone” without it’s optional projector available?

Should you want it without a contract, you are going to shell out $449. Plus another $179 for the projector that is as of yet unavailable. But, if they rope you into signing your life away and if you pay $299 upfront and IF they send you the $100 rebate, it will only cost $199. But, you still have to buy the projector separately. That is to say IF the projector ever becomes available. You would think that at that price, the projector would come with it. But of course it doesn’t, it’s unavailable, oh yes. I forgot…

And has anyone ever thought that maybe the projector might not become available at all? Stranger things have happened, I know, but you never know. There have been many items in the past on pre order, or highly anticipated which as of yet never materialized for one reason or another. Just look at the fabled Apple Tablet, which to date has yet to materialize at all, with the exception of people saying it will, eventually in 2010. Or the CrunchPad now known as the Joo Joo, which is on pre order and in the middle of a hefty lawsuit. That is one item most likely never to hit the market, and then all the pre orders are out… So what makes anyone think this will materialize, because they say so?

The Ole’ Bait & Switch
And it figures AT&T is attached to this deal. The company known as “last in customer service” is the carrier for the so called “LG Projector Phone”, (which BTW explains the ungodly price), and advertised it as such. All the headlines stated the LG eXpo-The Projector Phone-would be available on December 7 2009. What they didn’t say is the projector would not be available. They advertised it as The Projector Phone. Then the projector phone when released, came not only without the projector, but with the “optional” projector unavailable.

And the Verdict Is?
I just do not understand how AT&T and LG can do all this advertising about the latest and greatest in technology, the LG eXpo Projector Phone, and then not have the projector available? How do companies get away with hyping up their products and then have half of the product not available for purchase upon the release date? The only reason some people are buying the projector phone is for the projector, and AT&T knows that.

Never once have they mentioned that it has a finger print scanner, no. The focus was on the pico projector instead. At least the fingerprint scanner is usable anyway. And a really cool feature that makes the phone worth it, even without the projector. That is what should have been advertised. Not something that wasn’t going to be available until much later.
