Chew this iPhone, doggy!

What do you do if you desperately want something but you just cannot afford it? Except from stealing it the best way is to buy a replica. I know that the fashion industry will hate me for this statement, but a good mockup may have the same impression on the stupid as the original product. Just like T-Mobile in Germany used to send waiting customers paperboard iphones “for a little gimmick”.

Now there is another alternative to the real iphone, and that is the knitted iPhone. Yeah, here it is, and looking just like the real Mccoy. You can smash it to the wall, let your dog chew it, and as it comes at 19,99 US-Dollars (meanwhile as expensive as the Euro, more or less), which makes it alot cheaper than the original one. Not only for those that own dogs or have children, it is as good for those that want to fake it from the very distance. And much softer, too. Good christmas present from geeks to their children, anyway. At least children that love dogs.

Android G1: The next Linux?

Did you notice it is there? Well, maybe you did, because some geeky guys dropped you a line, but the newspapers did not really push the hype about the first phone with the Google operating system, Android. And actually, there is no real hype, it just lines up as any new phone. Why is that? Wasn’t it supposed to be “the next big thing”, “the real threat to the iPhone”?

Well, of course many of those brilliant analysts out there already made their statements why the G1 is not creating cues in the streets. But we have our own thery about why the G1 is not the next big thing. The answer is easy, probably too easy for some of you out there: It is too open.

Samsung S3600 – Samsung goes really really low end

Samsung S3600

Regarding the international banking crisis, Samsung is making the first move in products: The Samsung S3600 (wow, where is the SGH? Not that we would be missing it at all) is really a step into a lousy future: Okay, it has got a metal housing, FM radio, Bluetooth and memory can be added, but that is pretty much it.

But does someone think of the end user? Who buys a flip phone without an external display? How desperate do you need to be? This is a RAZR2-like product that forces you to open it to see who is calling. Hello? Do you guys in Korea have any target group for it? Like Rex Cramer, the danger seeker? 160 Euros is way to expensive for stupid teen girls, and I can’t see a different audience for it. Welcome to 1999.
